The Latin Mass returns to Bart's Father Deo has asked that the Latin Mass be re-introduced to St. Bart's. From the third Sunday of September the monthly Plainchant Mass will be celebrated in Latin in the Novus Ordo as it used to be in the days of Fathers Carolin and Michael. The people's reaction to this move will determine the future of Latin beyond 2014. The only currently envisaged exception will be in November, when the annual Remembrance Mass will be returned to the Plainchant Choir at 11:30 on 9th November (NOTE: this is the 2nd Sunday of the month). As this is also designated a Youth Mass it will be celebrated in English with the Latin Plainchant Requiem Common. Easter and Good Friday 2014
We will once again
have all the readings for the Easter Vigil. It is my intention to
utilise most of the music we used at last year's vigil, but return
to Rutter's Christ the Lord is risen again at the Offertory. Scroll
down the page
HERE and you will find each part has a learning aid - why not
take the music home and make use of it!! Copies will be distributed
on Tuesday 4th March. |

some of Nicholas's music. It includes Felix namque es (which

The return of Asperges... We will have Asperges at the start of Mass on the feast of The Ascension, 1st June. This is something we should prepare for, especially as Ascension falls within Eastertide and we shall be required to sing Vidi Aquam rather than Asperges me! Whilst it doesn't affect the Poly Choir, there will also be Asperges a week later on the feast of Pentecost. .... and more frequent Benediction Benediction will conclude Lenten Stations of the Cross and the May and October Devotions this year. The organ will once again lead the singing on these occasions. The latest Dates List
Revised and updated,
the most recent dates list (dated 23rd February) is now available
from the
Choir Diary page on our Web site. It is, as always, in PDF
format so that you are very easily able to print it off. Please make
sure that you are not referring to any any previous versions! |
Father Paul Antwi-Boasiako CSSp A brief look at a busy life HERE. Grand National Sweepstake Eddie Sanders's support for the parish Youth Club has been amazing over what must be a life-time for many of us. He is once again running his annual Grand National Sweepstake. I make no apology for encouraging you to print the Entry Form from HERE, complete it, and submit your stake! Entries need to be in on or before 30th March. Good Luck!! March's Quiz Question In which church, only five or so miles from St. Bart's, did St. Elphege celebrate Mass in the late 9th or early 10th century. Answers to me by the end of the month. For your coffee breaks A novel use for a pair of Steinway pianos HERE, and something absolutely ridiculous that will put a smile on your face - not to be viewed on a Tuesday evening, please! Finally, from the often strange world of Japanese advertising, Pepsi goes Underground. Prayers, please..... George Norton, Anne Mitra, Topan Perswani, Mary & Frank Elliott and Maria Leszczynska & Family. |
