St. Bartholomew's Polyphony Choir UPDATE  JANUARY 2020

Happy New Year!

Thank you all so much..... the Concert went far better than I might have thought a few weeks ago! Those who attended were clearly delighted with it, and only one person (an ex-Choir member!) mentioned the dreaded 'R' words afterwards!!

A number of people mentioned how nice the carols with the piano were. Well done to you all - there was evidence of a fair bit of behind the scenes practicing, especially from the altos! Excellent!! It seemed unanimous that the Wind Quintet was just great!!

As for the jokes about 'losing weight' as I trotted up and down the gallery stairs, well................!!

Midnight Mass was once again a wonderful occasion - fun though the Christmas Mass settings we have in our repertoire are, it does seem that the joyous brevity of Turner's John the Baptist Mass suits the occasion well. Despite having so many away, and the inevitable bouts of illness, you all did very well, especially (again!) the altos!

This is a good moment to say a big thank you to our Cantors, not just those at Midnight Mass, but to all who offer their service throughout the years. They, without exception, spend additional time ensuring they will be prepared ahead of the occasions they will be singing at.

The January Jigsawonly 12 pieces this month. One for the children and grandchildren as well as yourselves?
But.... as it's holiday time there is also a somewhat more challenging Jigsaw as a bonus for the grown-ups!
